Working on the first run of Vortex was a dream job for me. I got to work with a good friend and a great writer – Mike Sizemore – whilst also working alongside my brother Pete Kennedy and the lettering legend Janice Chiang. What could be better than that? ‘Getting asked to do it all again’ is the correct answer.
John and Sandy re-assembled the team to tell the tale of what happened after that last panel in the first book, and we had a great time telling that story. There’s more horror, more action, more heartbreak and more of that Carpenter atmosphere in this sequel. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have lightning strike twice for me and to have put this book together in such good company.
